Welcome to Pengana Constituency
Hon. Elisha Bisidi
The Heartbeat of Progress and Tradition in Bassa Local Government Area
Pengana Constituency is one of the key administrative and cultural regions within Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. Known for its rich history, peaceful communities, and resilient people, Pengana remains a vital contributor to the growth and unity of Bassa LGA.
Our People and Culture
At the core of Pengana is a proud, diverse, and hardworking population. The constituency is home to the Ogomo Pengana, the traditional ruler whose leadership continues to foster unity and peace among the people. Our culture celebrates harmony, respect for elders, and a deep connection to the land and traditions passed down through generations.
Communities in Harmony
Communities such as Jengre, Mista-Ali, and others within Pengana live in peaceful coexistence, with a shared commitment to mutual support, education, and economic development. Our people are known for their hospitality and community spirit, which makes Pengana not just a place on the map, but a home for all.
Development and Aspirations
Pengana continues to prioritize access to education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and agricultural development. The constituency is steadily growing, with an active and engaged population working together with government and stakeholders to improve infrastructure and opportunities for all.
Our Vision for the Future
We envision a Pengana where every child can access quality education, every family can thrive in a secure environment, and every voice contributes to the development of our local government. With unity and transparency, we are building a constituency that reflects the values and potential of Bassa as a whole.
Join Us on This Journey
Pengana is more than a constituency—it is a family. We welcome everyone to visit, invest, and partner with us in shaping a brighter and more inclusive future for our people.
WARDS IN PENGANA
Pengana Constituency
Pengana Chiefdom (northern Bassa LGA) has been an important political unit since its establishment under colonial rule. It was formally revived in the 1950s and today remains one of Bassa’s two traditional divisions (alongside Rukuba\Irigwe). The Paramount Chief (Ogomo Pengana) resides in Jengre (Jere town), where the British built a palace in 1952. In modern politics, Pengana is considered a PDP stronghold; local stakeholders in 2025 urged the Plateau State government to improve infrastructure (notably the Faringada–Jengre federal highway) and to establish a general hospital in the area. Agriculture is dominant in Pengana, and voters here are highly engaged – for example, a 2025 PDP constituency forum led to public endorsements of Governor Mutfwang and laid out local development priorities.
